The story
behind Omaghan
Started with our desire to help people easily enjoy rice cooked in a clay pot at home.
Omaghan originated with clay pot-cooked rice served at a ryokan inn named "Yumotokan" in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, Japan.
Their guests commented on how delicious the clay pot-cooked rice was and wanted to buy the clay pot that the ryokan was using.
The ryokan's executive chef wondered if we could make a clay pot that would make it easy to cook rice even at home. YOKOSHIKA then joined hands with an Arita ware maker to jointly develop a clay pot for cooking rice.
It was not easy to invent a simple method to cook rice so delicious that it makes a lasting impression on everyone.
The goal was to enable anyone to use a clay pot to cook delicious rice. After repeated trial and error, the first Arita ware clay pot could cook two or three servings of rice.
However, YOKOSHIKA wanted to make the pot small enough to cook only one serving of rice, while retaining the ease of use. After further improvements, the Arita ware Omaghan clay pot for cooking one serving of rice (126 ml–180 ml) was born.
For two to three servings of rice. Jointly developed clay pot to easily cook delicious rice.
Our jointly developed clay pot for cooking two to three servings of rice is suitable for two or more people. Perfect for couples and small families as well as ryokan inns and restaurants.

How to properly use solid fuel.
step 1
Peel off the plastic container's cover. *The plastic container is for long-term storage only. Do not burn the plastic container together with the solid fuel tablet.
step 2
Take out the solid fuel tablet from the plastic container. *Since the solid fuel tablet is made with solidified alcohol, handle with care.
step 3
Place the solid fuel tablet into the stainless-steel fuel pan plate and put the fuel pan on the bottom mat. *Putting the fuel pan directly on a table or other surface may scorch the table or surface.
step 4
Set the cooking stand in place and you will be ready to cook.
What not to do.
・Do not leave the solid fuel tablet in the plastic container. Take out the solid fuel tablet from the plastic container before use. Burning the plastic container together with the solid fuel tablet will cause a burning smell and soot affecting the aroma of the rice.
・Do not use any aluminum foil together with the fuel pan. If the solid fuel tablet comes with aluminum foil, never use it in the fuel pan or the gas stove's fuel pan. The solid fuel will burn abnormally and become very dangerous.
